Health minister concerned about obesity here
While St. Vincent and the Grenadines is the first CARICOM country to produce a document on dietary guidelines, Minister of Health Dr. Douglas Slater said earlier this week that it is evident that we still have a lot of obese persons in SVG.
Dr. Slater said that during the recently concluded Carnival festivities, it was noticeably visible that a lot of our women are overweight. He added that collaboration between the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Health needs to continue to ensure that St. Vincent and the Grenadines has a healthy population.
Minister Slater stated that while a number of wellness programs are ongoing, the nation still faces the issue of obesity and more work needs to be done to address this problem.

OMG!!! FAST FOOD OVERLOAD + LACK OF RECREATIONAL AND SPORTING FACILITIES X LOWER INCOME LEVELS / EDUCATION = OBESITY
Address these issues seperately, seriously and apolitically and we will make progress in tackling obesity; anything else would be spinning top in mud and political sophistry evidence by the nonsense being spewed by Dr Slater of “wellness programs” and “collaboration”. What about the Colloboration between Health and the Sporting ministry? What about the collaboration between the Education and Sports ministries? And what about the myriad of other factors that could contribute to the onset of obesity?
What Dr Slater is doing, is talking glibly of a serious situation for political expediency. Just like the Education Revolution; the Wellness Revolution is but a mere slogan rather than any well sort out National Policy.
Minister Slater here is a shocker for you Fat Parents will produce fat children, you would also notice that fat people seek out other fat people to be with , and they reproduced offsprings of the same. We are eating too much and of the wrong kind of food. Our industry are producing larger sodas doubbled in size and laden with sugar contents , that is so bad for us. We don’t drink water anymore, unless it has sugar in it and you wonder why we are overweight, its a nobrainer Dr.
