Nanthan returned as Windwards’ president
KINGSTOWN, St Vincent, Jan 20, CMC – Dominica’s Emmanuel Nanthan has been returned as president of the Windward Islands Cricket Board of Control (WICBC) for another two-year term.
At its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in St Lucia last week, the WICBC elected Nanthan unopposed for a second two-year term.
“I must say I am quite pleased with the confidence placed in me and my colleagues to continue the work we have been doing,” Nanthan told CMC Sport.
Elson Crick, of St Vincent and the Grenadines, was also returned to the position of vice president.
Crick and Nanthan will represent the WICBC as Directors on the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB). Grenadian Cecil Greenidge is the alternate Director.
Nanthan praised the work of his executive as they enjoyed a positive 2009 campaign and promised to continue the building process.
“Last year, the Windwards had its best showing in regional first class cricket for 25 years. It was the result of great teamwork and contribution by all in our set-up. We pledge to continue the hard word toward moving Windwards and West Indies cricket forward,” Nanthan added.
The senior team’s selection committee has Julian Charles, Stanley Hinds, and Charles Walters while Irvin Warrican, Raphael Croney, and Keith Charlery are junior team selectors.
Manager Lockhart Sebastien and coach Ian Allen remain in charge of the senior team set-up while the Under-19s will have Shawn Edward as manager and Ray Duncan as coach and the U15s will have Samuel Holder (manager) and Dwain Gill (coach) in charge.
